Mrs. Christina Hansen, 78, died Sunday at 5:15 a.m. of a stroke at the home
of her daughter, Mrs. Emma M. Alderman, 1423 Hawthorne avenue, with whom
she had made her home for the past five and one-half years.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. n Locke funeral home
by Rev. Arnold Kriegbaum, pastor of Grace Brethren church and at 2:30 p.m.
in the Swan funeral home at Independence, Ia., by Rev. Stanley Ellis, pastor
of the Four Square church there.
Burial will be in Wilson cemetery near Independence.
Born on July 1, 1868, at Stenlille, Denmark, she was the daughter of Christian
and Anna Hansen. She came to Independence with her parents Aug. 22, 1881.
She was married to James Peter Hansen on Feb. 27, 1884, at Independence.
He died there Aug. 28, 1923.
Mrs. Hansen was a member of the Four Square church at Independence.
Survivors include one son, Elmer H., Iowa City; one daughter, Mrs. Alderman;
one brother, P.F. Hansen, Independence; one sister, Mrs. John Dauber, Pine River, Minn.;
27 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
